Rainwater Management

Principles and Measures to Prevent Drought and Flooding

Learn principles and measures to implement an effective rainwater management
that improves your area or property, and at the same time, help change climate change!

This self-paced online course – taught by Thomas Lüdert, lead engineer for the water retention landscapes developed at the Tamera community and in many other places in southern Portugal – will provide you with a solid grounding in the basic principles of rainwater management and will instruct you on how to apply practical measures effective against both drought and flooding.

You will therefore become able to implement rainwater management measures in your own area, bringing benefits not only for the land on which you work, but also at a larger scale by helping restore water cycles and thereby helping change climate change.

The Rainwater Management course includes more than 3.5 hours of lessons in 44 short videos with theoretical explanation and on-location demonstration of principles and measures, homework assignments, a comprehensive 12-page inventory checklist that you can apply to your own area and downloadable study booklets for each of the course’s seven sections (totalling more than 100 pages of original text and image content). Your questions about course content will be answered directly by the teaching team. The course may be started at any time and followed at your own pace, and it requires a minimum of about 10 to 20 hours of study time to complete.
